Symphonic Band

The Kernan Middle School Symphonic Band is made of the top performing 8th grade students in our program. Students are admitted to this ensemble by audition only. This band performs at least 2 concerts and represents Kernan Middle School at the District 17 Music Performance Assessment, and is the public "face" of the KMS band.

The requirements to perform in this band are:

 

1. At least one previous year of study on a Band instrument

2. Memorization of the 7 major scales at least 1 octave

3. Performance of a solo at a previous concert and/or Solo and Ensemble

4. An academic history of "B" average or better
