About Our Program

Welcome to the Kernan Middle School Osprey Band, where "Excellence Through Music" is the hallmark of our program. With a growing enrollment students this year, the Kernan Osprey Band is on track to being one of the largest middle school bands in Duval County. Our performance groups include the Beginner band, Symphonic band, and audition only Honors Band. Under the direction of Mr. Jordan Sawyer, our students will participate for the first time in County-wide music fesitvals, State-wide honor bands, and perform at various locations within Florida.

Support the Kernan Bands

Fundraising is an essential part of running an effective band program and is necessary to maintain a high-quality music program for all members of Kernan Osprey Bands. Remember, Duval County School District funds a very small portion of the overall costs of our growing band program. Fundraising for the Kernan Bands allows the boosters:

to offset the additional cost, over and above the band fees, of processing each student through the band program, which allows us to keep the budget assessments at an acceptable level
to allow families an opportunity to fund their students’ event fees, spring trips, and other qualifying band events
to raise money for the band so that we may continue to provide the program with the equipment and instruments that are needed for full instrumentation, thereby ensuring the ongoing integrity of the program for all band students
